As if you need someone else telling you what to do right? Relax, I am not here to lecture you, just subtly remind you that being healthier has its financial benefits. Don't believe me? Here's the proof:
Cutting Out All That Fun Stuff
Sure, drinking, smoking, and elicit drugs are all kinds of fun, but they cost a lot of money and don't do your body any favors. Their front end costs are bad enough with the taxes upon taxes added to sticker price it can add up quickly. No matter how much they cost up front it is nothing compared to the back end costs incurred through medical bills. Even if you have the best healthcare coverage in the world you are still going to end up paying a fair chunk of change which could be used for other endeavors.
Skipping Fast Food
If you are drive through frequenter you will really be surprised how fast it adds up. Even at $6 a meal you could be wasting hundreds of dollars a month on something that you are literally going to flush down the toilet later in the day. The same goes for those $5 drinks at your local coffee shop. Talk about pissing money away; am I right? Planning your meals ahead of time will keep your body thinner and your wallet fatter.
Exercise Fills Time
Sending time exercising is no sane person's idea of a good time, but it does have its benefits. Of course there is that benefit of the weight loss and healthy innards, but who cares about that stuff right? The main benefit is that it keeps you from sitting on your butt and drinking beer for at least 20 minutes.
Save Money on Clothes
This is actually two-fold (Ha! Laundry Joke). Gaining weight leads to the need for an entirely new wardrobe which is both depressing and expensive. As if that isn't enough all your clothes will end up costing more since many clothes retailers charge more money for extra large sizes.
Less Days Off Work
This one is more about making money than saving money, but I am in the firm belief that they both accomplish the same end goal; a penny saved is a penny earned and all that. Being sick from bacteria, hangover, or busted gut all mean little to no work on your part which can also mean a lack of cold hard cash depending on the industry which you work; at the very least you are wasting a paid sick day.
The Dollar Dad isn't about pinching pennies. He is about making and saving money in interesting way to live the best life you can.
