There is no better free movie app than Crackle. Sure they have ads – really annoying ads – but it is a small price to pay for what they offer. You are not going to get new releases but you will get a surprising collection of TV and movies. If you are rocking one of the many smart TVs or set top boxes (Amazon Fire, Roku, Apple TV) there are a ton of similar apps which offer free movies for the taking. Most of these apps offer a revolving door of movies to satiate your appetite.
Viggle is my new favorite hobby. If you are a media consumer like me there is no reason for you not to have this app, especially because it is available on every major operating system. Viggle is a rewards app that allows you to score points through checking in to movies, television, and music and playing live trivia. My wife is an expert at this app and has scored us tons of money in gift cards while I like to use it to get free movies on a biweekly basis.
There are a ton of rewards programs out there and almost every single one of them offers the option of redeeming for free movie tickets. If you can’t wait for free movies to come to you this is probably your best option. Save up as many points as you can in order to score free tickets which are usually on the cheaper end of the rewards spectrum. Think about how your date will feel when you offer to cover the ticket. In my case I am the friend hook up. Vudu (Walmart’s digital media entity) allows you to invite up to 5 friends to share your media library. Luckily for my friends I am “that guy.” You need to look for that guy in your life because my friends are sitting on a library of 100 movies that they did not have to pay a dime for. ( I may hold a contest in the future to make the Dollar Dad your "guy.")
Become a Reviewer
When I am not writing for Dollar Dad I am writing for everybody else which makes me uniquely qualified to tell you about this last piece of insight. If you are really good at writing reviews there is good money and free swag that comes along with the job. I have scored tons of free movies, most of them indie movies, to review before they are released in order to drum up some publicity and increase sales. This may be the hardest way to get free movies legally, but it is a good gig if you can get it.
