When it comes to working from home the first pitfall that everyone falls into is sales. You could toss a stone out of your front door and hit 10 online sites promising you the world for only a few dollars in return. The fact is that if it sounds too good to be true it probably is and selling something half as good is twice as hard as you may think. Here are a few things to consider if you are questioning whether reselling is right for you.
Do you Have the Capital?
The saying goes that it takes money to make money and that is doubly true when it comes to reselling. If you are living day to day when it comes to money this is not the business for you. Reselling can be profitable but it is also a bit of a gamble sometimes you can turn a profit in a day, but other times you may have to sit on a find for months or even years before you make your money back. Even if you have a guaranteed buyer you could be looking at a few days at the very least between.
Do You Have the Skills?
Selling, especially online, is not as much about the product as it is the way you describe it. Selling anything online is like writing a short story about the product. You have to describe it in a way that makes buyers want to fight each other for the right to own what you are selling. Being able to write descriptions like this is what separates successful resellers from amateurs who quickly dip out of the business.
Do You Have the Eye?
Being a reseller is not for everyone, but if you are good at it it can be an excellent form of income. You get to set your own hours and can make a killing if you are good at it. If you are planning on using resales a reliable income source I would suggest running down these three questions and then dipping your toes in the water before jumping right in.
The most important aspect of reselling of knowing what is actually going to sell. Some of it is trial and error but you have to know where to start. If you don't have an eye for items that will most likely sell you will find yourself wasting hours of your time and money on junk.
